PILOT TRAINING

Recreational pilot permit
(From age 16)

Formations/Qualifications

The recreational pilot permit is ideal for anyone wishing to fly a single-engine aircraft in Canada. The permit has a 1 passenger restriction and is only valid in the country.

Private training

  • Duration: 3 to 6 months
  • Cost: ± $ 9,000
  • Advantages: 1 passenger, domestic flights only
  • Prerequisites: Category 4 medical certificate

Number of hours: 

  • 15 hours dual with an instructor
  • 5 hours solo
  • 40 hours groundschool 

Private Pilot License
(From age 17)

Formations/Qualifications

The private pilot license is ideal for anyone wishing to fly a single-engine aircraft for fun. The license is also the first step towards flying professionally.

Private training 

  • Duration: 3 to 6 months
  • Cost: ± $ 13,500
  • Advantage: Basic license
  • Prerequisites: Category 3 medical certificate

Number of hours : 

  • 30 hours dual with an instructor
  • 15 hours solo
  • 40 hours groundschool

Professional pilot license
(From age 18)

Formations/Qualifications

The Commercial Pilot License is aimed at any pilot who wants to fly professionally or simply gain more experience.

Private training

  • Duration: 6 to 12 months

  • Advantage: professional training that allows you to work and earn a living as a pilot.
  • Prerequisites: Private Pilot License, Category 1 Medical Certificate

Training for Night and VFR OTT Ratings are included in the flying hours.

Multi-Engine/Instrument Rating
(From age 18)

This training includes getting a Private Pilot License, a Commercial Pilot License and the Multi-Engine and Instrument Rating (IFR). It is ideal for people who wish to fly professionally. 

Private training

The night rating allows you to fly at any time of the day, which is perfect for short winter days. This is usually the first qualification obtained after the private pilot license.

The VFR OTT flight rating allows you to fly above the clouds without crossing them. This qualification is obtained automatically with the commercial pilot license.

The flight instructor rating allows you to dispense different licenses and qualifications to future pilots.
